Gastrointestinal infections cause gastroenteritis, an inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract involving both the stomach and the small intestine.

People commonly get infected by eating or drinking contaminated water or food. Common symptoms include diarrhoea, blood or mucus in stool, vomiting, dehydration, fever and abdominal pain.

Vector borne infectious diseases account for a significant number of human illnesses and deaths each year.

Some viral diseases transmitted by vectors include, dengue fever, zika virus and chikungunya which we are able to detect using our molecular diagnostic tests.
